Doune Castle, fancy some coconuts? /
discovering Scotland
Well Doune Castle, as I said before, for sure that when you´ll see the pictures you will recognise this place from some films actually. The Castle is placed in a little and cute village and it's pretty easy to find. As soon as you'll arrive there (sharp bend to go to the Castle) you'll find the car park and the wee shop. In there you can buy some coconuts, this is the first referee to a film: Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the Castle was used in several scenes, so that's the reason of the coconuts. First time there we saw a laddie with them simulating the sound of horses galloping :) The Castle is also knowed more recently for Game of Thrones, used as Winterfell for some interior scenes, and for being Castle Leoch in Outlander. So as you can imagine this one is quite famous, so last time there the parking was almost full! I must say that it was August so it's normal, Scotland is one of the best places to be in summer :)
Don't miss the little room hidden in the Castle! You can have your lunch there or you can go to some of the cute restaurants/coffee shops in the village. First time there we went to Buttercup cafe and it was nice to have some sandwitches and cakes :)
Some tips:
